Vada Ronda Coppic Knox

- Vada Ronda Coppic Knox, 84, of Kingsville, died Oct. 4, 2007, in Kingsville.
Knox was born on Jan. 23, 1923, to Miller Bales Coppic and Vada Winniefred Jones Coppic in San Juan.
She worked as a secretary at Scarborough Department Store in Austin. She soon found her calling working as a Deputy Sheriff for the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Department. Knox was a Church of Christ member in Bastrop and was instrumental in helping find the property where the church is now located. She also served as Sunday School Teacher for many years.
She was a former member of Bastrop 4-H Parent’s Club, Bastrop Bear Band Parents, 36th Infantry Division Association and Paralyzed Veterans Association. She was active in the Garden Club in the 1940s. She was an award winning artist taking first place in several fairs for her charcoal drawings and sketches. Survivors include her daughter, Ronda Ann Knox (Charlie) Berryhill of Kingsville; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service was held Oct. 9 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Kingsville.
A graveside service was held Oct. 10 at Rocky Creek Cemetery near Bangs.
Turcotte-Piper Mortuary was in charge of the arrangements.


Sally L. Jimenez

- Sally L. Jimenez, 92, of Kingsville, died Oct. 8, 2007.
She was born Sept. 29, 1915, to Carlos Lerma and Paula Gonzales Lerma in Corpus Christi.
Jimenez enjoyed cooking and spending time in her garden.
Survivors include her sister, Maria Hinojosa of Corpus Christi; sister, Zaragosa (Felix) Arriaga of Michigan; brother, Pete (Emma) Lerma of Weslaco; sister-in-law, Inez Lerma of Kingsville and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Oct. 10 at Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home with a rosary recited that same evening.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Oct. 11 at Our Lady of Good Counsel.
Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in Kingsville.

Yolanda S. Pena

- Yolanda S. Pena, 60, of Kingsville died Oct. 9, 2007, in Kingsville.
She was born Nov. 25, 1946, in Patron, Calif.
Survivors include her husband of 27 years, Juan T. Pena of Kingsville; son, Juan Gilbert Pena of Kingsville; daughter, Cassandra Pena of Kingsville; brother, Gilbert Silvas of Bishop; sisters, Locha Silvas of Houston, Gore Silvas of Corpus Christi.
Visitation will be from noon until 9 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at Ramirez-Salinas Funeral Home in Kingsville.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Oct. 11 at St. Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Isidro Garcia officiating.
Burial will follow at Santa Gertrudis Memorial Cemetery.


Adita Bazan Saldana

- Adita Bazan Saldana, 73, of Kingsville, died on Oct. 6, 2007.
She was born Nov. 3, 1933, to Luciano and Anita Rowland Bazan in Kingsville.
Survivors include her son, Jose Gudalupe Saldana Jr. of Kingsville; 2 daughters, Cynthia Saldana and Diana Reyes (Richard) of Kingsville, one brother Jimmy Bazan of Kingsville, one sister Estella Bazan of Kingsville; 8 grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Oct. 8 at the Kingsville Memorial Funeral Home.
A funeral service was held Oct. 9 at Templo Bethel Church in Kingsville with the Rev. Manuel Garza officiating.
Burial followed at Santa Gertrudis Cemetery in Kingsville.
