Pastor Mike C. Alvarez

- Pastor Mike C. Alvarez, age 62, a lifelong resident of Kingsville, Texas passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007 in Kingsville. He was born on January 2, 1945 in Kingsville to Miguel M. Alvarez and Elizabeth Canales Alvarez. He was employed for over 32 years with ExxonMobil Corporation until his retirement. He lived his life with the belief of service to God, his community and his country. After being ordained as a minister in 1997, he served as pastor at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship Church and later a chaplain for VistaCare Hospice. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving his country for 18 years. He was a veteran during the Vietnam Era.
Pastor Alvarez was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roy Alvarez.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Baudelia G. Alvarez of Kingsville; three daughters, Stefanie G. Alvarez, Michelle G. Alvarez and Erika A. (Valentine) Lara, all of Kingsville; one brother, Oscar (Nora) Alvarez of San Antonio, Texas; one sister, Sandra Alvarez of Texas; aunt, Ester (Beto) Leal of Kingsville; stepmother, Hilda Alvarez of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Prayer service was conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 30, 2007 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel. Funeral Service was held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 31, 20007 at the Turcotte-Piper Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Don Leavell officiating. Burial followed in Kingsville at the Santa Gertrudis Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans of Kleberg County Military Funeral Detail.
Services were entrusted to Turcotte-Piper Mortuary, 205 General Cavazos Blvd., Kingsville, Texas.
