Raquel was born on Aug. 13, 1972, to Benito and Luisa G. Reyes in Alice, Texas.
Raquel was a graduate of Ben Bolt-Palito Blanco High School and Texas A&I University.
She was employed as a teacher at Memorial Middle School in Kingsville and Wynn Seale Academy in Corpus Christi. Raquel was loved by all and she loved all.
She especially loved and adored her son Issac Matthew Morante.
Raquel was preceded in death by her mother, Luisa G. Reyes and grandparents.
She is survived by her son, Issac Matthew Morante; her father, Benito Reyes, Sr.; her aunts and uncles Francisca Reyes, Lydia (Pablo) Moreno and Anita (Manuel) Pena; one sister, Elvia R. (James) Hernandez; five brothers, Ruben (Corina) Reyes, Benito (Janie) Reyes Jr., David (Linda) Reyes, Arnoldo (Elizabeth) Reyes and Gerardo (Amalia) Reyes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 25 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors with a rosary recited that same evening.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Burial followed at Seaside Memorial Park in Corpus Christi.
