He was born in 1920 in Natchez, Miss. Wilson was the third of eight children. A World War II veteran, he served from 1941-1945 in the US Army Air Corps stationed throughout the South Pacific. Hired by Humble Oil Company (later known as Exxon Corporation) only eight days after his military discharge, he began a 40 plus year career in the oil industry. His career would take him from land drilling in South Texas, the King Ranch, Alaska and Canada to offshore exploration in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bering Sea and many other places around the globe. Survivors include his wife of over 55 years, Rose June Shaw; daughters, Mary Nan Wilson of Canyon Lake, LuAnn (Keenon) Kirk of San Antonio, Carol Shaw (Jon) Easley of Baton Rouge; two grandchildren; brother, Leslie Wilson of Austin; brother, Edwin Wilson of Natchez, Miss.; brother, Ira Wilson of Norman, Okla.; sister, Joyce Norman of Natchez, Miss. Visitation was held Sept. 28 at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary with a rosary that same evening and also Sept. 29 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Zachary, A funeral Mass was held Sept. 29 with the Rev. Jeff Bayhi officiating. Burial followed at Azalea Rest Cemetery. |
