He was born in Inverness, Miss. but grew up in Kingsville. Cook was retired from the private sector, and he was a captain in the Army during World War II, receiving a Bronze Star, and retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&I University-Kingsville and his masters from Iowa State. Survivors include two sons, Russel M. Cook of Austin, Michael E. Cook of Knightdale, N.C.; one brother, Charles I. Cook of El Paso, four grandchildren and one great-grandson. A private graveside service with full military honors was held June 30 at Chamberlain Cemetery with the Rev. Cindy Layton officiating. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice. |
