H.M. King’s varsity volleyball team beat Robstown here this past Saturday. The contest was the second date on the Lady Brahmas district schedule. The varsity girls won game one 25-14, game two 25-11, lost the third game 23-25 and closed the show 25-6 in the fourth contest. The junior varsity team finished off their counterparts in two straight matches (25-12 & 25-13).
For the varsity, Reeva Soliz had two aces, one kill, 25 assists and seven digs. Cori Noel amassed two aces, three kills, an assist and seven digs. Hannah Peterson chipped in a kill and four digs. Desiree Ayarzagoitia totaled twelve aces and seven digs. Morgan Gant tallied an ace three kills and four digs. Chelsea Hower contributed three aces, 17 kills, an assist and six digs. Amanda Arriaga scored an ace, five kills, and four digs. Lena Hemphill notched six kills and two digs.
H.M. King’s overall record now stands at 9-8; 1-1 in district. The freshmen and junior varsity teams were scheduled to play at Tuloso-Midway this past Tuesday; the varsity had a bye. All three teams travel to Alice this Saturday. Yadira Rangel is the head coach.

All three of the Lady Seahawks volleyball teams were in action against Banquete this past Saturday. The varsity team won game one 25-20, game two 25-16, lost the third game 18-25 and sealed the deal 25-21 in the fourth and deciding game. Both the junior varsity (23-25, 25-16 & 19-25) and the freshman teams (25-15, 8-25 & 27-29) lost their matches against Banquete.
During the varsity victory, Whitley Van Fleet scored five kills and eleven digs. Lisa Gomez put together eight assists, three digs and an ace. Tracy Yaklin amassed six kills, four digs, an ace and five blocks. Dixie Wheeler had a kill and seven digs. Lauren Romero notched a kill, a dig and two blocks. Tina Gomez chipped in four assists. Trina Medellin contributed a dig. Anna Ruiz scored four kills, seven digs and two aces. Cassie Gomez, Sharla Irby, Leighann Campos and Erionne Wallace are also on the team.
Riviera is now 3-1 in district and are coached by Becky Ivey.
