Sunday's Internet Edition, August 01, 2010. Diez y Seis lesson - Students at Lamar Elementary School received a history lesson about the Diez Y Seis de Septiembre, and the significance to citizens of Mexico. Children created artwork, headbands and dressed in celebration of this holiday. Pictured from left are Margarita Castellanos, Veronica Cruz, Lalyla Hemphill and Alexis Sanchez who are all students in Mrs. Connie Molina’s first grade class. Diez y Seis celebrates the beginning of Mexico’s War of Independence in 1810.
