Murder trials rescheduled - The trial date for Walter Ronald Long, indicted in connection with the shooting death of Homer Christian Jr., has been set for the first week in October. Christian was shot several times at a Ricardo convenience store last year. Long later surrendered to an off-duty policeman in Corpus Christi. The trial for the two brothers, Stephen and Robert Rodriguez, indicted in connection with the beating death of Cameron Bowers, will be held the first week in November, according to John Hubert, newly appointed Kleberg and Kenedy County District attorney. Bowers was beaten outside a local night club and later died. Hubert was sworn into office Saturday in Austin and began his first day in the courtroom as a district attorney on Tuesday.
