Sunday's Internet Edition, September 05, 2010. Retiring fire captain honored (Photo by Maria Rodriguez) - Kingsville Fire Department Capt. Oscar Montalvo Sr., 62, has retired after working 30 years with the local fire department. Now retired fire chief Tony Torres hired Montalvo in October of 1977. He started as a fire fighter and EMT, then became an engineer, eventually working his way up to captain. During his retirement he said he would like to stay home and relax with his family — do more fishing, hunting, and he would like to take a trip to Las Vegas. Montalvo, center, was honored at a recent Kingsville city commission meeting by Mayor Sam Fugate and Fire Chief Al Lopez.
